OZONE NZ STORY
Ozone is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Kites and Paragliders, created around a dedicated team of passionate riders and pilots that share the same outstanding passion for nature, exciting sports and progress.
Ozone NZ, based in the Waikato town of Raglan, is one of five Ozone offices around the world and the base for the Kite Division. The team is led by Matt Taggart, World Champion Masters Kitesurfer and co-founder of Ozone, who lives and breathes water and air sports.
Matt joined Ozone in 2001 heading up the then-new Kite division, based in the south of France where the Ozone head office remains. After focusing on growing the brand, he visited Raglan for the first time in 2005 with his Kiwi partner and fell in love with the area, orchestrating the company’s move to Raglan in 2007.
The brand and team has grown from there, with the first retail shop opening in Raglan in 2016 before moving to the current base on Bow Street in 2020. Raglan provides the perfect conditions for testing new Ozone products, with the team aiming to achieve the Ozone ‘feeling’ with each new addition.
Alongside the store is cafe and restaurant Isobar, so keen kiters can grab a bite to eat before heading out. As well as developing and selling products, the team also runs a kitesurfing and hydrofoiling school (the only marine-audited hydrofoil school in NZ), with regular lessons based out of Raglan.
You can learn more about the global company that is Ozone here, or check out our NZ team below. We’d look forward to seeing you in Raglan, or check out our social media as we often travel to other kitesurfing hotspots around NZ.
